20TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF SLAPCEO & THE LAUNCH OF WOMEN IN MICE
The 20th Annual General Meeting of SLAPCEO was held on 3rd December 2024 at the Imperial Hall, Mount Lavinia Hotel, which graciously hosted the venue.
President Mr. M. M. Imran addressed the gathering, highlighting the actions taken during 2023/2024. Resolutions were passed, and the event concluded with Mr. Imran thanking all members and stakeholders for their continued support.
The following members were re-elected to the board: President – Mr. Imran Hassan (CDC Events & Travels), Vice President – Ms. Janice Hakel-Ranasinghe (Kairos Events & Weddings), Secretary – Ms. Nadeeka Leeniyagoda (Aitken Spence Conventions & Exhibitions), Treasurer – Ms. Dileesha Bulathsinhala (Asia Tours & Events (Pvt) Ltd) and Board Committee Members – Mr. Aasim Mukthar (Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services Ltd), Mr. Yasantha Kuruvita Arachchi (Beyond Boundaries Global Ltd.), Mr. Hemal Oshadee Withanawasam (The International Institute of Knowledge Management Pvt Ltd), Ms. Rapti Dirckze (B Connected (Pvt) Ltd), Mr. Sandeep Jayawardhana (Walkers Tours Pvt Ltd) and Mr. Zaky Zahireen (Classic Destination (Pvt) Ltd).
In addition, the following members were appointed as Board Committee Members: Mr. Manuja Kariapperuma (Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall) & Mr. Suranjith De Fonseka (DTH Lanka Pvt Ltd)
Following the AGM with the support of SLCB, launched the Women in MICE initiative. The event was organized by SLAPCEO in collaboration with BMICH, Aitken Spence Travels, Golden Isle Travels, and CDC Events & Travels.
The panel featured distinguished speakers, including Ms. Paddy Paul from Golden Isle Travels, Ms. Kumudu Hennedige from Sri Lanka Convention Burerau, Ms. Rajani Pillai from ITC Ratnadipa, and Ms. Virazmi Aher from Sri Lankan Holidays, who shared valuable insights into empowering women in the MICE industry and fostering leadership in this dynamic field.
The evening concluded with a fellowship session, fostering networking and collaboration among industry leaders and participants.
